Performance Management Workshop: A legal perspective for midwives
Wednesday 29 May, 2019
Healthcare is a complicated industry, often characterised by high stakes and limited resources. Although there are systems in place to help things run according to standards, sometimes the reality of the work is that things can go wrong.
We hear the words performance management and immediately think of negative outcomes, extra work, long processes and paperwork. But performance management is sometimes necessary and has a noble goal. If handled correctly it can even be beneficial to employer and employee and lead to better internal processes and communication. The process doesn’t have to be stressful, unfair or unclear.
Many healthcare professionals will be involved, either directly or indirectly, in performance management processes at some time in their careers. This workshop will explore the performance management process, both from the side of the manager and the employee being managed. You will gain a better understanding of performance management and its objectives, your rights, your obligations, and some practical tips on how you can get better outcomes.
