Indigenous babies are much more likely to be born pre-term than non-Indigenous infants and Indigenous mothers suffer higher rates of stillbirth.

A project called Birthing on Country aims to create more health centres where Indigenous families feel safe, as well as increase the numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwives.
